Department of Sociology

History

The Department of sociology established from the very first day of our college on the year 2005. We offered both honors and general course in sociology. The department along with the college had been under the affiliation of the University of Bardhaman till 2016. From 2017 it is affiliated to Kazi Nazrul University. Asansol. Previously under CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) we had Honors and General course for 3 years. Now it follows the National Education Policy of India 2020.

The department presently offers the following programmes under the affiliation of Kazi Nazrul University:

• B.A. Major in Sociology (4 years)
• B.A. Minor in Sociology (4 years)
• B.A. Multidisciplinary in the first semester
