From The Principal’s Desk

Pandaveswar College is situated far away from the madding crowd in the outskirts of coal-mine area of Pandaveswar Community Development Block to impart higher education to the backward and underprivileged students of the vicinity. This College was established in the year 2005 as an outcome of persisting demand and protracted endeavour of the inhabitants of Pandaveswar for an Institute of higher learning and research in the area. At present, it is affiliated with Kazi Nazrul University. It also secured UGC affiliation U/S (2f) & (12 b) of UGC Act.

Each and every member of this College sincerely believes that education is the commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Since its inception the College has been striving hard to impart quality education to the students who come here from various socio-economic and cultural background. Starting with a meagre number of students the College at present has about 900 students, studying in diverse disciplines (Humanities & Science).

Inspite of many financial constraints our College is trying its best to attain a place of prominence in the educational scenario of Kazi Nazrul University. Using UGC fund, the College purchased a good number of books (Text & Reference) for its Library. The above fund was also utilized to provide filtered drinking water to the students, teachers & staff. It has also tried to make the campus green and clean, renovate the seminar room and upgrade some classrooms into Smart classrooms.

The College throughout the year focuses on organizing various work shops, seminars, & awareness programme on Human Rights, Girl child protection & Human Trafficking. The College arranges awareness programme on COVID and mosquito borne diseases. It frequently organizes Health Camp, Yoga Camp for students and local people. Independence Day, Republic Day, Rabindra Jayanti, Netajis Birthday, International Mother Language Day & Womens Day are observed solemnly every year. Last year we organized study tour to Murshidabad.

In post COVID situation the College is trying best to acclimatize with new normal situation. The College building is regularly sanitized and all COVID norms are adhered to while organising any academic or social and cultural events. In this COVID period our versatile teachers have not only published in UGC Care national and international journals but also organised and participated in national and international Webinars. Recently one of our faculty members of English Department Prof. Madhurima Nargis delivered a brilliant lecture on Effective Online Teaching-Techniques in Literature and Language organised by JAIN University Bengaluru through online mode. The College has also published a seminar proceedings on Sister Nivedita(namely Nivedita -O- Adhunik Bharat edited by Prof. Nasiruddin Mollah & Dr. Papri Pal).

The NSS team of this College made a good attempt to organise awareness on Health and Hygiene in the neighbouring three villages under the vibrant leadership of NSS programme officer Prof. Sumit Nath. A Library building financed by ADDA is under construction. For this, credit should be given to our honourable President Dr. Falguni Mukhopadhyay and my beloved predecessor Prof. Nasiruddin Mollah who always encouraged to carry out student friendly & development oriented activities within the College premises.
As the Principal of the College my first priority is to start NAAC assessment process in the College which is pending for a long time. I am also committed to expedite all the developmental activities of the College and attain academic excellence so dearly envisaged by my revered predecessors. To make this possible all the stakeholders of the College should have to work together as a team with discipline, mission and camaraderie. If we fail to do this then all our aspirations would go in vain and all our utterings would sound as hollow rigmarole. As I have assumed office in a very difficult time so my job is perhaps more challenging than ever. However, in my initial days as the incumbent, I am immensely grateful for the love, bonhomie and support of the present Governing Body, Teaching Staff, Office Staff and dear Students for allowing me to feel comfortable in my new assignment. Hope in future course of time we will overcome all our constraints and shortcomings and will be able to minimize our problems and discomforts to stride towards the path of glory and excellence. Let me conclude by vowing that we must be modest in words but not in performance.
